Former Philadelphia 76ers big-man Spencer Hawes, who probably would have signed a max deal with the team if Doug Collins had remained in power, played a limited role in the Los Angeles Clippers’ eventual collapse in the playoffs at the hand of the Houston Rockets. Fortunately for Hawes, Doc Rivers isn’t nearly as good in the front-office as he is as a coach, and Hawes has three more seasons left on a fairly big deal (relative to his talent level) in Los Angeles.
Hawes, apparently reaping the rewards of the mid-level exception salary he annually commands, is using his money to drown his sorrows of being eliminated from the playoffs.

Of course, this can’t cost as much as the Barack Obama toilet paper that Hawes was known to use.
