Defensive Tackle. Southern California. Leonard Williams. 7. player. 57. This selection could go a great deal in determining just how much pull Jay Cutler still has with the Chicago organization. Conventional wisdom would probably have the Bears addressing the void left by Brandon Marshall by selecting Alabama’s Amari Cooper to step in and serve as one of the team’s two starting receivers. My hunch is that new general manager Ryan Pace won’t pass up the opportunity to land one of the draft’s top talents in Williams. The USC product has been slated to go as high as 2nd overall and Chicago is long-removed from the defense-oriented teams of years past. This year’s wide receiver class is almost as deep as the class of 2014. That said, there are few players capable of what Williams is on a snap-to-snap basis. Pace seems like a sharp enough individual to avoid making the ‘sexier’ pick given what’s at his disposal. Williams arrives in Chicago and is immediately their best player along the defensive line.
