player. 47. With the Patriots shifting the focus of their defense from the secondary to the front-seven, Bill Belichick happily nabs Missouri’s Shane Ray with the last pick of the first round. Once seen as a top-half of first round talent, Ray’s detractors have noted lack of length and ideal measurements as a cause for concern. While Ray may not appear to be the ideal edge man like Dante Fowler or others, he was an excellent football player at Missouri and Belichick has a knack for making sure guys stay that way when they come into the fold. With how important the position has become at the NFL level, teams seem so insistent on finding the ideal prospect to line up as their primary pass-rushing outside linebacker. The Patriots have the luxury of not having to find that individual at this time. Instead, they can just hang their hat on the fact that they may land one of the top pass-rushers in the draft with the final pick in the first round.. Defensive End. Missouri. Shane Ray. 32
