Fisher is a pick that can not only provide Kubiak with such a player for his first draft pick in a new setting, but also help keep Peyton Manning upright for what could be his last season. Like Kyle Long last year, Oregon’s Jake Fisher has steadily climbed up draft boards. Teams generally don’t look at lineman as the ‘sexy’ type of position to draft in the first round. With the value they hold in Kubiak’s offense, however; lineman are almost more important than the backs that run behind them. Fisher can play guard or tackle for a team that lost Orlando Franklin, one of the game’s top lineman, to free agency.
