Though it appears the experiment of focusing resources around the interior of their defensive line appears to be over in Detroit, a playoff team cannot expect to duplicate their success with the gaping hole left in the middle of one of the league’s best defenses. Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley are gone, but the Lions impressed many last season with the strides made on that side of the ball. Haloti Ngata is in the fold for at least 2015, but Detroit cannot necessarily count on him staying beyond next season or duplicating his success in Baltimore. Brown could come in and benefit a great deal from playing alongside Ngata, even if it is just for one season. Conceivably, the Lions could be better off without the distractions brought on by Suh and continued progression of one of the top units of the 2014 season.
