Alabama. Landon Collins. 22. player. 55. Troy Polamalu, see ya later. Enter: Landon Collins. Pittsburgh pounces on the chance to select the draft’s top safety in Alabama’s Landon Collins. The Steelers seem to be approaching a period of significant turnover and the chance to draft players as talented as Collins is crucial to softening the blow of transition. Once seen as a top-10 prospect, the book seems to be out on Collins and his stock has suffered because of it. Yet, if there is any division where an ‘in-the-box’ safety is preferred, it’s the AFC North. Collins will benefit from the stability and strong environment built up in Pittsburgh over decades of success. It will be in the organization’s best interest to make sure Collins does not feel he was brought in to replace Polamalu. Anyone who has watched either player knows that is impossible.. Safety
