Any season that does not end with a championship in Philadelphia sports is a disappointment. A common coping mechanism to dealing with such failure is dealing in hypotheticals. Sports fans, especially ones in title-starved cities like Philadelphia, spend entire offseasons cursing the fates at the singular development that clearly cost their team the ultimate success they appeared destined for. Often times it is a far bigger issue than a cruel dose of bad luck that derails a team’s championship aspirations. Nonetheless, part of staying committed as a fan and not letting the years of frustration get the best of us is imagining how things would have played out were the sports Gods on our side. With that, I give you the five biggest ‘What Ifs?’ in Philadelphia sports in 2014.
