Kelly is the Most Powerful Figure in the Organization

Multiple times in his press conference, Kelly flexed his proverbial muscle as far as his role as judge, jury, and executioner when it comes to personnel.

Furthermore, when asked about the relationship between he and GM Howie Roseman, Kelly’s answer didn’t exactly toss water on the supposed troubled relationship between the two parties.

Hardly a ringing endorsement. That being said, Roseman’s role on the team is important and he has earned a say on matters involving the organization he has grown through. His ability to manage the salary cap and keep the team in a flexible situation is valuable and has kept the Eagles from suffering through the pitfalls that irresponsibly spending teams do.  That being said, the Eagles are getting just what they signed up for with Kelly. It was going to take giving Kelly absolute power when it came to bringing him to Philadelphia and, the second it appears as if that might be slipping away from him, Chip could decide he wants to return to college where that would never be in question.  Kelly is a sharp enough guy to know that he will deal with both the praise and the blame that comes with holding such a position of power. Given his ways, one has to figure that’s how he prefers it. Kelly comes off as someone who wants to avoid anything being lost in translation and most likely feels he is the only person who can appease how he wants the organization to be run. Because of this, his influence level of the organization top-to-bottom will only continue to increase as his experience in the NFL does.
