Analyzing “The Sanchize”: Mark Sanchez Performs Well in Eagles Win Over Giants
By Tim Kelly
Second Quarter
- The Eagles went three-and-out to start the second quarter, after Mark Sanchez finished the drive by overthrowing Darren Sproles. The drive only lasted 53 seconds, something that Chip Kelly needs to work on fixing for the 2015 season.
- After the Eagles defense got off the field, amazingly in 53 seconds, Mark Sanchez stared down Zach Ertz and attempted to throw it to him, only to have Marcus Harris pick the ball off. Yep.
- The next drive began with a 25 yard reception from Jeremy Maclin, for his 84th catch of the year, but the Eagles were unable to get another first-down after that, which led to yet another punt.
- The Eagles put together a very nice drive to wind down the first-half, but were unable to punch it in for a touchdown. Sanchez was impressive for a majority of the drive, but missed a wide-open Jeremy Maclin on first-and-goal (and was nearly picked), and then threw the ball behind Darren Sproles in the endzone. Sproles may or may no have had enough separation to actually make the catch, but he wasn’t given a chance to find out.
- A Cody Parkey field-goal as the first half expired gave the Eagles a 17-16 lead going into halftime.
- Sanchez went into the half with a statline of 13/21 for 205 yards, a touchdown and one pick. Not to overdue things, but I counted four balls that easily could have been picked off from Sanchez. Two were, one was overturned due to a weak penalty call.
