To say that Vincent Lecavalier’s time with the Flyers has been a disappointment would be a massive understatement.

Just over one year after signing a big five-year deal worth $22.5 million, the former Tampa Bay star finds himself a healthy scratch. Lecavalier has sat out regularly despite being healthy, and just doesn’t seem to have a place in the Philadelphia lineup.

The Flyers appear to be stuck with Vinny for the time being. They’ll have a tough time moving Lecavalier; at age 34 with noticeably declining skill, lack of production, and an ugly contract, its hard to imagine many teams having interest in the veteran, leaving Philadelphia with a serious case of buyer’s remorse very early into the deal.

Philadelphia has had a number of free-agent busts come through the city throughout the four major franchises over last decade. How bad is the Lecavalier deal compared to some of the other failures we’ve seen in recent years? Let’s take a took.
