9 & 10. Josh Sweat/Milton Williams
Josh Sweat had his name pop up in trade rumors this past offseason, but the Eagles agreed to terms with Sweat on a restructured one-year deal worth $10 million. Philly was happy to keep Sweat as the free-agent signing of Bryce Huff did not work out in 2024.
The veteran defensive lineman helped set the edge in Fangio’s defensive scheme. He had 41 combined tackles, 16 QB pressures, 15 quarterback hits, nine tackles for loss, and eight sacks (second-highest in his career).
According to PFF, Sweat was a solid pass rusher this season with a 71.5 pass-rush grade (ranked 38th among 211 qualified EDGEs. He was also adequate against the run with a 69.3 run defense grade (ranked 48th among 211 EDGEs).
With the Eagles only having 14 unrestricted free agents and $23.5 million in cap space, players like Sweat might not return due to getting a bigger deal elsewhere.
Nonetheless, the veteran pass rusher played well in his first year under Fangio and is needed on the defensive line. However, the Eagles could look to elevate Nolan Smith Jr. into his spot, who had a tremendous second season.
Along with Sweat, Milton Williams is set to cash in massively after having a breakout year too. Philly could keep Williams in the middle of the d-line, giving them a dynamic trio with him, Jalen Carter, and Jordan Davis.
The 25-year-old defensive tackle’s impact as a pass rusher wasn’t a fluke this season. He had a 90.4 pass rush grade on PFF (second among 219 qualified defensive linemen) and an overall grade of 70.1 (31st among 219 qualified defensive linemen). That'll make him heavily pursued in free agency.
