10 Eagles Whose Time in Philly Will End After 2025 Super Bowl Win

2 & 3. Avonte Maddox/James Bradberry
With the Eagles finding two bonafide starters in the 2024 NFL Draft with Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they take that route again in the spring, making Avonte Maddox and James Bradberry expendable.
Maddox is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the team re-signed him to a one-year deal. The 28-year-old defensive back entered the season as the Eagles’ starting slot cornerback.
However, Maddox struggled in Vic Fangio’s scheme, which opened the door for DeJean to take over. This season, the veteran defender had 20 combined tackles and five pass deflections.
Maddox wasn’t the best in pass coverage to start the season, which was highlighted every time he was on the field. However, the veteran defensive back had a 76.7 pass rating allowed when targeted and only gave up one receiving touchdown.
According to PFF, Maddox’s overall grade was 56.3, while his coverage grade was 56.6 among 223-qualified cornerbacks. It would not be surprising to see the Eagles fill his spot on the roster with a rookie or another young player.
In addition to Maddox, Bradberry could be gone too this offseason. The 31-year-old cornerback turned safety missed the 2024 season after being placed on injured reserve with a lower leg injury.
Bradberry was viewed as a potential cut candidate in training camp but worked on transitioning to safety. The veteran defensive back has a potential out in his contract heading into the 2025 season, putting him on the chopping block.
The Eagles already have their starting safeties and cornerbacks on the team, leaving no room for Bradberry. In 2023, the veteran defensive back struggled mightily as opposing QBs took their shots at him.
Bradberry recorded 54 combined tackles, 13 pass deflections, and an interception. But he allowed 11 receiving touchdowns and a 114.3 pass rating allowed when targeted. Even though the former Giants cornerback also had a 59.4 completion percentage allowed on targets, which isn’t bad either.
The Eagles likely hoped Bradberry would find his way after a disappointing 2023 season, but they found his replacement opposite of Darius Slay in Mitchell.
