The Phillies have a bright spot in the form of outfielder Nick Williams. His recent success at the plate solidifies his future.

As the Phillies took the final game of the series against Milwaukee, Nick Williams blasted himself a two-run, opposite field home run to kick off the night. The momentum Williams brought to the game carried the Phillies to a 6-3 victory. It was another performance that should make the front office feel comfortable that at least one of their prospects will become a serviceable MLB player.

Williams’ homer makes it four in ten games, and his power is just one of the aspects that is shining through. In the last eight games, Williams has hit .333 with three home runs and five RBI. Williams has been the most consistent force in the lineup, and the Phillies have seen the results, as their post-All-Star break performance is looking much more promising than the first half.

The Phillies have won two consecutive series at home, and now look to push their youth into the spotlight. The name J.P. Crawford may be the one people are remembering, but Williams is inching himself towards the top of the team’s asset list.

With a lot of polishing on the table left, Williams is showing the potential to be a middle of the lineup hitter as he looks to grow next to Aaron Altherr. There’s still question marks on whether Williams can consistently play the outfield, and if he can keep his strikeout numbers down.

More from Philadelphia Phillies

But those concerns are expected from the 23-year old. The Phillies of course have the issue of a loaded outfield. Odubel Herrera, Aaron Altherr, Nick Williams, Roman Quinn, and Dylan Cozens are all young outfielders that can eventually become staples in the outfield. Of course, that’s a problem that will have to be dealt with beyond this season, so for now Philadelphia can sit back and awe at their own talent.

Not only have the Phillies seen success from the prospects in the big club, but once-struggling names like Crawford are now seeing a turnaround. Fans can now feel better about this club moving forward, which is a complete reversal from the beginning of the season where disarray plagued the organization for a quick second.

The Phillies will have to sort through a lot in the near future, but Nick Williams may have solidified his role as an important piece moving forward.
