There’s been a lot to analyze this season in regards to the Philadelphia Union’s level of play. Yet sitting here typing out every thought has left me searching for more in the sense of expressing my opinions. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job as a writer.

But I decided to dabble in sharing my thoughts in the form of a podcast alongside a good friend of mine, Jason Hannigan, for this week’s edition of “We The People Pod” on UnionFanTV which was an experience to say the least. First, let me present the disclaimer that despite my relatively long background in the theatrical arts, my formal speaking voice is what many would describe as “all over the place”. You’ve been fairly warned.

Hannigan, on the other hand, provides a clear message to his listeners in a tone that is expremely relatable to fans of this team who listen in every week. As the founder of UnionFanTV, Jason developed this podcast in the hopes of addressing and gauging the pulse of the fan base as a whole surrounding the Philadelphia Union organization:

"“We The People Podcast keeps with the overall mission of UnionFanTV and its network. We look to tell the stories that go untold around the Club, offering a fan-first perspective. Because as fans, we know what keeps us up at night. The podcast aims at engaging Union fans from all walks of life, facilitating conversations about where we are and where we are headed as a club. Because ultimately, we, as fans, are a significant part of the Philadelphia Union story.”                                                                                                                                    – Jason Hannigan"

More from Philadelphia Union

I found the experience to be very worth my time especially from the perspective of being able to physically hear each other out on issues surrounding the Philadelphia Union. Some of the topics included the concerns of this current winless streak, the safety of starting jobs on this deep and talented roster and Jim Curtin’s managerial method affecting the level of play. Other points about the concept of sleep and flat dorm room sodas also made their way in there; but all in good taste and with the main message intact throughout.

This relaxed environment the team at “We The People Podcast” has created for the everyday fan is one that I find myself drawn towards as both someone close to the team and as a tried and true supporter myself. Down the line, the entire Union division at Section215 looks to coordinate more and more collaborative content with UnionFanTV as the season progresses.
