Today at 7pm Eastern Time, the MLB First-Year Player Draft will be underway. In a few hours the Philadelphia Phillies will have added a new player to the ranks that we hope will contribute to help the major league team in a few years.

The Philadelphia Phillies are in the enviable, or unenviable (depending on who you ask), position of selecting first overall in this upcoming draft. But this article isn’t about who the Phillies may draft with the first pick. We’ve got you covered on that here, though.

This article is about honoring the first round draft picks that the Philadelphia Phillies have made since the turn of the century (circa 2000) this means some awesome Phillies like Pat Burrell will be left out but that’s ok because we’ve got you covered with some awesome (and not so awesome) current Phillies, former Phillies, potential Phillies, and a few flameouts.

While going through this list you may ask yourself, “why were some years omitted?” and the answer would be, “because those years were too dark to talk about.” Just kidding, some years are omitted because the Phillies didn’t have a first-round draft pick during them. Those years would be, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2011, and 2012.

So without further ado. Let’s begin this stroll down memory lane. (Brace yourselves because some memories are best left in the past)
