Roy Halladay 'got goosebumps' when Chase Utley spoke to him

While I’d be the first person to move Chase Utley for a package that would help to improve the future of the Phillies, it certainly wouldn’t be without some pain. Utley’s hall of fame candidacy speaks for himself, but what has made him an icon in both Philadelphia and around the MLB landscape is the heart and hustle that he has always played with.

Roy Halladay, known for having quite the work ethic himself, took to Twitter today to congratulate Utley, who won the Phillies’ Heart and Hustle award for the fifth time today.

Spoiler: It was pretty awesome, except, you know, the whole Scott Rolen part.

I also loved the Chooch reference that Doc threw in.

In general, this long string of tweets mostly praising Utley taught me two things. First off, someone needs to tell Halladay to download Twitlonger. Secondly, and more importantly, Utley’s work ethic isn’t just some on-field charade. If Halladay, a future hall of famer, thinks this highly of someone who spent a majority of his tenure in Philly battling off injuries, our placement of  Utley as ‘the man’, is validated.

In a completely unrelated note, remember when the Phillies were good and they had all those Goosebumps ads? This was circa 2007, and I found it on YouTube and it made me remember a time when the Phillies were good in the present, and their future was only brighter. Those were the days.
