Andrew Wiggins probably knows a thing or two about having a multi-day pitch by a team thrown at his way in an attempt to garner his services. That being said, the Kansas product probably felt his days of ‘He Got Game’-style recruiting visits ended the day he signed his letter of intent to play for Bill Self down in Lawrence. 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie’s man-crush will instead be getting a NBA-level recruiting trip after landing in Philadelphia on Sunday.

Lengthy, which translates to three days in terms of Wiggins’ stay in Philadelphia, will apparently be enough time for a workout, tour of the city, and Sam Hinkie to try to get the potential 1st overall pick to loathe the cities of Milwaukee and Cleveland enough to make him practically undraftable to the two teams picking ahead of the 76ers. John Clark of CSN Philadelphia and NBC10 was at the airport upon Wiggins arrival to get a word from the player it has been long assumed the 76ers have coveted since even before last season.
Given the recruiting war the likes of Kansas, North Carolina, Kentucky, and even Florida state waged over Wiggins’ services for one year in college, here’s to hoping Hinkie and the gang have something beyond a trip to Geno’s Steaks and a trot up the Art Museum steps planned for their dream prospect. My suggestion? Take a page out of John Turturro and Rick Fox’s characters in ‘He Got Game’ as they attempted to convince Ray Allen to attend ‘Tech U’. Jesus Shuttlesworth had a bit too much dignity for my taste, anyway, as he opted for ‘Big State’ to get his dad out of prison. Personally, I was devastated to find that these schools were fictional after seeing some of the potential…classmates I could have been working with, even as a non-athlete. I’m not sure Hinkie has had to ‘woo’ much over the course of his career as a member of multiple front offices, but this would be a good time to put on his pick-up artist hat and make Wiggins never want to play anywhere else.
Not even 24 hours into his arrival, by the way, he seems to be doing a pretty good job.
Andrew Wiggins just arrived at the #Sixere practice facility at PCOM in a black limo.
