Monday, LeSean McCoy made the rounds at ESPN, and the highlight of his trip was a stop at ESPN First Take–where he certainly made it easier for NFL fans to ‘embrace debate’. After being prompted by ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, ”Shady” said he was the best running-back in the NFL, even better than future hall-of-famer Adrian Peterson.
McCoy tends to be a more laid-back type personality, so he said he was the best running-back in the NFL, but when the benchmark for declaring yourself the best at your position in the league is Richard Sherman, it’s hard to convince others that you really believe what you are saying. Peterson, who claims to have been watching the interview live, says he had a hard time believing that even McCoy believed what he was saying.
“It was funny because when Stephen A. (Stephen A. Smith) asked him the question, he kind of hesitated, and he didn’t believe it when he said it. I tell the youngsters, ‘Say it with your chest, like you mean it!”
“All Day” said that in a radio spot this afternoon with Jay Mohr of Fox Sports Radio.
Peterson didn’t back off his statement that McCoy didn’t ‘Say it with his chest’, but later on in the interview he complimented McCoy’s running-style, so it doesn’t appear Peterson is headed for a Knowshown Moreno-esque beef with McCoy.
