With the 224th pick in the 2014 Draft, the Eagles wrapped up an eventful weekend by selecting Wisconsin defensive tackle Beau Allen in the 7th round.

At 6’2″ and 330 pounds, Allen will compete with Damion Square to backup current nose tackle Bennie Logan. Logan was dependable in Madison, playing in all 54 games of his college career. He was named an honorable mention for All Big-Ten in 2013. He is a strong, stout presence in the middle who does not jump off of the screen, but does the dirty work required of a nose tackle.
The addition of Allen rounds out a class that includes five defensive players compared to just two on offense. Expect the Eagles to be extremely active in the undrafted free agent market, as they have brought in contributors from that crop over the past few seasons. In the meantime, check out Allen’s glorious mane of golden hair in what has to be one of the best, most appropriate looks for his position in the entire draft class.
