While rumors of interest from the 49ers and Patriots in DeSean Jackson were squashed almost as quickly as it was reported, it doesn’t appear that the Eagles will have any problems moving Jackson, if they choose to do so.

The idea of ‘lots of interest’ would give you the idea that the Eagles should easily be able to fetch more than a third-round pick for Jackson, should they move him. That said, the fact that he is due $28.5 million (only slightly over $8 million is guaranteed) and wants more guaranteed money, may drag his value down.
I understand that the Eagles may not end up having the cap space or desire to pay Jackson like he would like, but he is under contract for 2014, and for the time being, the Eagles have the cap space to pay him. Once they have to address long-term extensions for Nick Foles, Fletcher Cox, Jeremy Maclin, and Mychal Kendricks, that may not be the case. But I think the idea that the Eagles are going to improve by moving Jackson, rather than having him as part of a loaded receiving core, is foolish.
