Report: Riley Cooper To Sign Extension With Eagles

CSN Philly’s Geoff Mosher is reporting that the Eagles are set to ink impending free-agent Riley Cooper to a four-year extension tomorrow.

Earlier today, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the Eagles were closing in on an extension with the 26 year-old.

Financial terms of the deal are yet to be disclosed, but my guess is that if Cooper signed this early, he probably decided to take at least somewhat of a hometown discount.  (I have no sources telling me that, it’s pure speculation)

Cooper put behind a messy training camp incident, in which he was filmed used the n-word  in a malicious way, by having a breakout season that saw him catch nearly 50 passes for 837 yards and eight touchdowns in 2013.

He didn’t want to deal with having to explain his racist comments to a new locker room, so he signed the Eagles first offer. They could have easily ended his career last summer.

The second part is right. I’m not sure he would have had as much of an issue integrating into another locker room as you think.

I’m not sure he would have had as much problem reintegrating as you think. Either way, you’re right about them having had the chance to end his career and that may have factored into his ultimate decision to stay.
