Sure, things might actually be a little more fun, had Tony Romo not had a herniated disk in his back that required season ending surgery on Friday, but the Eagles can’t control that.
What the Eagles can control is making sure that they put an abysmal 17-3 week seven loss to the Cowboys, behind them. Hypothetically they should be able to do that.
Throw out the fact that Kyle Orton is playing quarterback. Orton can play (at least a little bit), and frankly I do respect Tony Romo’s game a lot more than most people, but I didn’t think that the Cowboys had a great shot to win this game even before the Romo news.
The Cowboys defense is looking to make sure that they don’t perform as poorly as the Bears defense did last week, when they allowed 54 points to the Eagles. Given the fact that they the Cowboys have the 31st ranked passing defense and the 27th ranked rushing defense, the Cowboys might not give up 54 points, but they are going to give up a lot more than three this time around.
Chip Kelly should establish the run early on, with both LeSean McCoy AND Bryce Brown, and make sure that the Eagle offense gets rolling early. If that happens, the Eagles should win this game by at least ten.
