Silly me for thinking Jason Garrett was going to hold a press conference on Christmas day, to actually give us a relevant update.
As it turns out, Jason Garrett held today’s press conference to gush over Jon Kitna, and reiterate that Tony Romo was just day-to-day, and going through a rehab process. Not sure why he would want to take extra time out of his Christmas, for that.
Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reported earlier this week, that Romo had received an Epidural injection to “relieve pain and reduce inflammation,” after injuring himself in last Sunday’s comeback win against the Redskins. Archer also said that doctors told him that it would be two to three days before doctors would be able to tell if the injection had worked, or whether it wouldn’t be enough to hold Romo over for the rest of the season. Today was the third day since the reported injection.
Garrett’s news conference actually told me two things. First off, that we won’t find out that Romo is officially out until a few hours before Sunday’s win-or-go-home showdown against the Cowboys. Secondly, the presser told me that Jason Garrett doesn’t mind wasting all the Dallas media members Christmas, to tell them nothing that they didn’t already know.
The gut feeling in most circles, is that Romo isn’t likely to play Sunday, and the Cowboys are trying to keep that news in-house, and have the Eagles prepare for two quarterbacks. That plan doesn’t seem to be fooling many people.
