Jason Garrett “Tony Romo Is Still Taking It Day-To-Day”

Silly me for thinking Jason Garrett was going to hold a press conference on Christmas day, to actually give us a relevant update.

As it turns out, Jason Garrett held today’s press conference to gush over Jon Kitna, and reiterate that Tony Romo was just day-to-day, and going through a rehab process. Not sure why he would want to take extra time out of his Christmas, for that.

Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reported earlier this week, that Romo had received an Epidural injection to “relieve pain and reduce inflammation,” after injuring himself in last Sunday’s comeback win against the Redskins. Archer also said that doctors told him that it would be two to three days before doctors would be able to tell if the injection had worked, or whether it wouldn’t be enough to hold Romo over for the rest of the season. Today was the third day since the reported injection.

Garrett’s news conference actually told me two things. First off, that we won’t find out that Romo is officially out until a few hours before Sunday’s win-or-go-home showdown against the Cowboys. Secondly, the presser told me that Jason Garrett doesn’t mind wasting all the Dallas media members Christmas, to tell them nothing that they didn’t already know.

The gut feeling in most circles, is that Romo isn’t likely to play Sunday, and the Cowboys are trying to keep that news in-house, and have the Eagles prepare for two quarterbacks. That plan doesn’t seem to be fooling many people.

I’m trying to ascertain your point in penning this missive other than being snarky.

Why on earth would Garrett or anyone tell the media anything more than they needed to know?

And, if you feel so sorry for the Dallas media having to come out on Christmas to a Cowboys press conference, (1) why not invite them over to your house instead, (2) since we live in a climate where it doesn’t snow nine months a year, like Philadelphia, it’s actually easy for people, including the media, to go wherever they want, whenever they want.

And finally, it’s not “an injection of epidural” as you stated. It’s an epidural injection. In other words, an injection into the epidural section of the spine. I wouldn’t expect a writer from Philadelphia to be medically astute but, when it comes to writing for the public, but I would expect him to be accurate.

First off, it’s 100 degress here during the Summer, and we have four seasons. Not sure where you got that it snowed four months a year. And just because it doesn’t snow in Dallas, doesn’t mean people want to go to a meaningless presser on Christmas.

My point wasn’t to be snarky. My point is unless Garrett had some earth-shattering news, why would he have a press conference on Chirstmas? Forget the media, doesn’t he have something better to do?

You got me on the medical stuff, but I’ll have you next weekend when the Eagles are playing a playoff game, and Cowboys are in the first weekend of the off-season so….

Wrong again. I’ll be one more game down. You’ll still be an inaccurate hack wanna be sportswriter.
