The Best Tweets About Michael Martinez Leaving The Phillies To Sign With The Pirates

I thought I hated Travis Lee. I never thought anyone could pass the level of disdain that I had for both members the dreadful third-base combination of Abraham Nunez and Wes Helms. And then Michael Martinez was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2009 rule-five draft, beginning the tenure of perhaps the least-liked/talented player in Philadelphia sports history.

In parts of three painful seasons with the Phillies, Martinez only mustered a .187 ERA, in 364 at-bats with the team.  Somehow Martinez still managed to fall into the good graces of Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., and former manager, Charlie Manuel.

Yesterday, SB Nation’s Chris Cotillo gave broke news about a Philadelphia Christmas miracle.

If you don’t understand Philadelphia’s dislike of Martinez, some of theses tweets in response to the news that Martinez was on his way out of Philadelphia, will give you a better perspective.

And for the record, “mini-mart” might be the worst nickname in Philadelphia sports history. Or Earth’s history.
