Fresh off of news that a Detroit Lions fan was beaten unconscious by Philadelphia Eagles fans outside of Lincoln Financial Field after last Sunday’s win, video footage of Eagles fans throwing snowballs at numerous members of the Lions has been released.
At the 2:31 mark in this week’s “Sound FX”, Lions return-man Jeremy Ross is huddled with cornerback’s Bill Bentley and Darius Slay, along with running-back Joique Bell. The four, especially Ross, Bentley, and Slay, appear to be taunting Eagles fans, after one of Ross’s two touchdowns in the game. Ross then says something along the lines of, “tell them merry Christmas”, before the three are pelted with snowballs, and they all say “they’re throwing snowballs”.
No further information is available on what led up to what I’m sure will go on to be called “Snowball-gate”.
None of the Lions appeared to be seriously mad about it, which is on the contrary to Minnesota Vikings running-back Adrian Peterson, who called the Baltimore Ravens fans, “the worst in the league”, after they threw snowballs at him.
I don’t mean to bring any more negative attention on us Philly fans by pointing this out, but I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t bring this to the public eye. Remember it is snow, it doesn’t really hurt, and it will melt. And it wasn’t Santa at least.
