When Boston Red Sox top prospects Jackie Bradley Jr. and Jose Iglesias were pulled from a Triple-A game tonight, it blew everyone’s Twitter timelines up. Speculation from a majority of fans and even some reporters was that the two were going to be part of a package that sent Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee to Boston.
And then Fox’s Ken Rosenthal killed that idea.
Whatever is going on with #RedSox – if anything – does not involve Cliff Lee.

And Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston confirmed that Lee is not headed to Boston tonight.

Speculation then turned to Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins heading to Boston for the two, before SB Nation’s Chris Cotillo learned that Jackie Bradley Jr. wasn’t being traded and had actually left the game for an injury.
So it doesn’t necessarily mean that Cliff Lee couldn’t go to Boston before the trade deadline, but this probably does.

I have to say the trade deadline was a lot more fun when the Phillies were the ones acquiring the stars and not trading them away or being involved in trade rumors.
