Although Domonic Brown struck out on 3 pitches in his first and only at-bat, and misplayed a ball when he entered the game in the 6th inning in left field, Brown still had an amazing experience at his first 2013 MLB All-Star game.
It was unbelievable to be out there with all those great All-Stars. It was a lot of fun. A lot of fun. I can’t believe it’s already over. I was hoping Pedro would hit one and I’d come up in a special situation. Maybe next year. I just have to keep working hard. Words can’t describe it. I had some jitters. But I felt good. He’s a tough pitcher against lefties. It motivates me for next year. Keep working hard. It was a blessing to be here and see that.
While Domonic Brown’s and Cliff Lee’s names were booed by New York Mets’ fans as their names were announced, Lee showed us all “the stare.” Brown said,
I saw him. That’s Cliff. I started laughing right away.
The American League went on to win the game 3-0, Mariano Rivera won All-Star game MVP, and the National League finished with just 3 hits. But still, it was a great experience for Brown. He has a very bright future, so hopefully we will see many more All-Star appearances made by him.
