And the injuries continue.
According to Jim Salisbury, Ryan Howard will be sidelined 6-8 weeks due to a torn meniscus.
Amaro says Howard needs surgery on torn meniscus. Six to eight wk recovery. No date for surgery but will be soon.

Last Saturday, Darin Ruf was called up from the Triple-A Iron Pigs to take Howard’s place.
Is it a huge loss? Sure, of course it is, but Howard wasn’t even putting up great numbers anyway. He was currently batting .266 with 11 homeruns and 43 RBIs. Will the Phils miss Howard’s homeruns and RBIs? Sure, of course, but once again, Howard’s lack of production and 95 strikeouts already in just 80 games played so far was already hurting the Phils. So with that being said, it might be a blessing in disguise. Howard get’s to fully recover, while Ruf gets more playing time in the big leagues. Who knows, maybe the Phillies will win more games without Howard in the lineup. All I know is, while I am hoping for a quick and smooth recovery, the Big Piece must show up and produce once he returns. It’s time to stop giving him all these passes all the time.
