Yesterday TMZ reported that Allen Iverson was holding his kids hostage at a Georgia hotel, and I figured TMZ was a reliable enough source to trust. So I wrote a piece basically saying Iverson should be in jail if the allegations were true, and that I felt bad for his five kids because they were caught between a messy divorce of two parents who probably shouldn’t be allowed to have children. Apparently though, TMZ didn’t exactly have the full scoop of the story as they updated the Iverson drama this morning.
But TMZ has learned … Allen appeared in Fulton County court in Georgia last Wednesday and told the judge his ex-wife had full access to their kids during their stay at the hotel … and therefore he wasn’t doing anything wrong. We’re told Tawanna also testified that she could have picked up the children from Allen but didn’t want to drive 45 minutes to his location.
Again, as I said Tawanna, Iverson’s ex-wife is just as bad a parent as he is. You allow this big of a deal to be made about not having your kids and you try to get their dad thrown in jail, because you are too lazy to drive 45 minutes? Now I’m sure Iverson was being difficult making her drive that far, but still Tawanna seemingly acts like she is the real parent in the relationship, and it just doesn’t come off like that from that outside looking in.
The article also says that the judge threw out Tawanna’s idea of putting Iverson in jail, because he listened to Iverson’s testimony and didn’t feel that it was the proper course of action.
And according to TMZ, the two have reached a happy ending-at least somewhat.
In fact, sources connected to the case tell TMZ … Allen and his ex have worked out some of their issues … and she has already allowed Allen to spend more private time with the kids.
So Tawanna is cool with her five kids spending more time with the man that a week ago she was calling an alcoholic who kidnapped her kids, and she wanted the judge to throw in jail. Just another day in the world of dysfunctional celebrity parenting.
