After the Phillies finish up a three game set with the Nationals on Sunday, they will head to Fenway park for two games beginning on Memorial Day, before returning to Citizens Bank Park Wednesday and Thursday to host the Red Sox for two games. It is a home and home of sorts.
Besides the usual intrigue that a Phillies-Red Sox series brings, this year the second series in Philly brought even more intrigue because it was supposed to be Shane Victorino’s return to Philly. However, it looks like that return won’t be happening.
Roster Moves 2 of 3: Shane Victorino placed on 15-day DL (retro to 5/21) w/ left hamstring strain. Alfredo Aceves recalled from Pawtucket.

Victorino won’t be playing as the Sox take on the Phillies next week, but the two series will feature one return. Jonathan Papelbon will be returning to Boston for the first time since signing with the Phillies prior to the 2012 season, and you better believe if Pap gets in a game, he will have an even bigger adrenaline rush than normal. And who knows, maybe things will turn around for the Phillies and Shane Victorino will make his Philly return in game one of the World Series. Seems like wishful thinking though.
