Chip Kelly loves speed, and Tuesday he added some bigtime speed, when the Eagles signed running-back Felix Jones. The six-year pro out of Arkansas agreed to a one-year contract with the Birds this morning.

Jones is an extremely intriguing signing for the Eagles, because while he has only totaled 2,728 yards over six years in Dallas, he is one of the quickest running-backs in the game, and could thrive in a Chip Kelly type offense. Jones will begin the season behind both LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown on the depth chart, but if he is able to stay healthy, could still play a role in Chip Kelly’s offense, especially considering all of the reps Chip plans for the offense to get.

Jones could also be used as a weapon on special teams, so this is a low-risk signing that has a chance to produce a high reward for Chip Kelly and the Eagles.
