With Roy Halladay on his way to the Disabled List, for 15 days, (at least), the Phillies have elected to call up Joe Savery from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Savery will take Halladay’s spot on the roster, but may very well only be at the MLB levelf or a few days, as the Phillies will need to call up a starter to replace Halladay in the rotation.

The Phillies could have called up a starter today, but may have decided to throw a bone to Savery by calling him up for a few days because of how well he has pitched at Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season.

Savery, currently has an ERA of 0.68 in 10 appearances for the Ironpigs, while posting a WHIP under 1.00.

Adam Morgan will still likely be called up to make Halladay’s next start, and hopefully after that we will have a better idea on the return dates of both Halladay and John Lannan.
