As unrealistic as it sounds, Ruben Amaro Jr., and the Phillies continue to gauge the Marlins interest in a potential Giancarlo Stanton trade.
This is according to Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly, who says the Phillies have checked in with the Marlins “multiple” times in recent months, but the Marlins continue to say that they are not looking to trade Stanton now.
Salisbury believes that the Phillies may just be trying to lay the groundwork, for a future trade if the Marlins are to place Stanton on the trade block at some point before the July 31t trading deadline.
The 23 year-old Stanton, is currently on the disabled list with a strained hamstring, and may not return until late May or early June. Stanton has three homeruns so far in a disappointing 2013 start, and is hitting .223.
