Carlos Ruiz Set To Make His Return To The Phillies Sunday

Philadelphia Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz is set to make his return to the Phillies on Sunday after his 25-game suspension, and this is the perfect time as the Phillies are struggling.

Ruiz has been playing in some extra long spring training in Clearwater Florida. He has played in some extended spring games and a couple of games for Single A Clearwater. Ruiz played for Double A Reading on Friday night and went 0 for 4 in Reading’s loss to New Hampshire.

Ruiz said, “I feel good. I played a lot of games in extended spring. I feel good and I’m excited about the way my body feels right now.”

Cliff Lee said, “Ruiz is a huge part of our team. He was obviously our best player last year. Getting him back can only help; his bat, his game-calling, his leadership behind the plate is definitely something that can help us, no doubt.”

Ruiz is one of the most important pieces to the Phils. Both his bat, defense, and chemistry with the pitchers are huge. Hopefully Chooch can make an immediate impact to an inconsistent Phillies team that is in need of a spark.
