After John Lannan was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a strained quadriceps tendon in his left knee, the Phillies needed to call up a pitcher to replace Lannan in the rotation. Many expected that Tyler Cloyd would be called up to replace Lannan, whose rotation spot is due Monday, but instead the Phillies have decided to go with another one of their top young arms.
RHP Jonathan Pettibone will be called up from AAA and will start 2moro night. Also, Delmon Young played in rehab game for Clearwater-1-4 RBI

Pettibone is 0-1 this year at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, with a 9.64 ERA. However, Pettibone is the Phillies number four overall prospect, and posted a combined record of 13-8 with a 2.93 ERA in a split 2012 with Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
While Pettibone may only make a few starts until Lannan is ready to come off of the DL, he is a name that Phillies fans should get familiar with, because he figures to be in the Phillies rotation permanently sooner rather than later, and likely for a long time.
