Phillies Outfielder Delmon Young Making Minor League Rehab Start Today

As the Phillies continue to struggle offensively, some sort of help may soon be on the way.  Outfielder Delmon Young, who the Phillies signed to a one-year deal in the offseason, is making a minor league rehab start for the Phillies single-A affiliate the Clearwater Threshers today.


The 27 year-old Young, is recovering from off-season ankle surgery, and figures to compete with John Maberry and Laynce Nix for time in right-field once he returns from the injury. While Young won’t provide a great average, he figures to be an upgrade over both Nix and Mayberry power-wise, which could help the offensively starved Phils.
