I woke up this morning, and had this great thought. We are only two days away from the Phillies 2013 campaign beginning and one day from MLB opening night. This morning the Phils announced who the final spots on their roster would go to, rewarding Humberto Quintero, Ender Inciarte, and Phillippe Amount with MLB spots. This is according to Kevin Cooney of Phillyburbs.com.
Quintero will serve as Eric Kratz’s backup for the first 25 games, and then likely will be designated for assignment once Carlos Ruiz returns from his suspension. Ender Inciarte, who the Phillies selected in the Rule 5 draft, earned the Phillies fifth outfielder spot, but likely will only be on the roster until Delmon Young is able to return from injury. Phillippe Amount also makes the MLB roster as the final reliever, and with the type of stuff he has, he could long-term end up as a Ryan Madson type set-up man.
The Phillies full opening day roster will looks as follows:
John Mayberry Jr.
15 Day Disabled List:
Delmon Young (eligible to come off on April 6th)
Editors Note: Carlos Ruiz will be out for the first 25 games for failing a drug test, and will be placed on the Phillies restricted list
