Sporting News has reported that the Philadelphia Eagles, led by GM Howie Roseman have shown interest in Star Cornerback Darelle Revis. USA Today is reporting that it appears both Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers Cromartie, will be wearing different uniforms in 2013, so the Eagles have an obvious need at corner.
But Revis isn’t the answer.
Not only do the Eagles need to replace their corners, but they need help at safety, linebacker, and the need to replace Cullen Jenkins on the defensive line. And oh yeah, they had some struggles offensively, on the line particularly. There are so many needs on this Eagles team, it isn’t like they are a Darelle Revis away from winning the Superbowl.
Not to mention, Revis is coming off of a torn ACL, and it will take ample draft picks to make the rumors a reality and bring Revis to Philly. It isn’t that I’m scared of Darelle Revis coming to Philly and forgetting how to cover or tackle like Nnamdi Asomugha. The Eagles just have to many needs to trade numerous high-end draft picks for just one player, not to mention a record-breaking contract would needed to be agreed upon too. And we don’t know if all of that happened, if Revis would be at his old form health wise.
Darelle Revis is the beast, and when healthy the best defensive player in the NFL in my mind. Unfortunately the Eagles are not in a position that one player, no matter how dominant he may be when healthy, will make this team a Superbowl Contender. 2013 is going to a rebuilding year for the Eagles, and fans need to accept that, and know that the draft is the best way to build a championship team.
