Domonic Brown is off to a hot start in 2013 Spring Training, impressing all Phillies fans. He has been very productive and is showing improvement which is great to see. So far, Brown has played 12 games in Spring Training this year and in 30 at-bats, he has 12 hits, 13 runs, 2 doubles, 3 homeruns, 4 RBI’s, and 6 walks.
Brown is loving his two hitting coaches, as they are making a huge impact on his improvement at the plate. He said, “Both of them have been great.” Brown said this about Joyner: “It seemed like God maybe sent an angel down toward me. He showed me a little something then, boom, it clicked and I’ve been working hard every day. I’m feeling good, feeling healthy, that’s the key. I’m out there having fun, trying to make good reads.”
Brown also said, “I think I’ve been through a lot. Coming in, I’ve been here before. I’m just going out, playing hard, trying to be fundamentally sound, and having fun.”
Brown is working hard on improving his defense out in the field as well, saying, “I’m out there because I want to, not because they’re forcing me to do it.”
Charlie Manuel has been very satisfied, stating, “He’s got good balance. He’s slowed things down at the plate. He’s keeping his balance and catching the ball out in front.”
Domonic Brown is going to be a very important piece to this team this season, so hopefully these great performances carry over to the regular season. We are all hoping for a solid 2013 year out of the 25-year old outfielder.
