Yesterday I wrote a piece discussing Andrew Bynum’s first practice as a Sixer. I talked about how exciting the news was to 76ers fans, but said that it wouldn’t take much for us to forget about Bynum practicing and go back to being depressed. Well, Doug Collins heard me, and right on cue he has ruined our buzz.

Before last night’s loss to LeBron James and the Miami Heat, Doug Collins adressed the buzz that Andrew Bynum was close to a return.

“He looked like a guy who hadn’t played in nine months,” Collins told reporters. “I don’t think any bells and whistles should be sent off that he’s close to playing.”

Doug Collins is real to a fault, and he was again here. With this quote the feeling on the Sixers season went from, “Maybe they can salavge something when Bynum comes back,”  to, “Even if Bynum comes back it will be too late.”

It has been a difficult season to watch for Sixers fans, and the last glimmer of hope on this season may have been destroyed with Collins quote.
