Phillies Come Into 2013 Season With New Mindset

Last season was a very tough year for the Philadelphia Phillies. So many things went wrong. There were blown saves, inconsistency, and injuries. There were just so many negatives. The season was up and down and players were going out and returning from injuries. It was a mess.

But this 2013 season is totally different and the team has a totally new mindset.

The first new mindset is to focus on winning ballgames and playing good baseball.

Doc said, “I know we’re going to have regular players go out for two or three innings and starting pitchers going three innings, but I want to win games. I want to win games down here and I think that will translate into the season.”

The second new mindset is confidence and certainty.

Jimmy Rollins said, “If we play good baseball, we’ll win the division. The mindset is different this year. We had a great year in 2011 and last year we came in with a quarter of the team, honestly. That’s tough to do. We’re a complete team now. We’re not going out there with role players so to speak. We’re going out there with everyday players. We just needed to fill a couple of holes and get other guys healthy. As you can see, I’m nice and calm. Last year, everybody was uncertain. This year, it’s a lot more certain.”

Halladay and Rollins worded it perfectly. This team needs to win now, and this year, there is a lot more certainty with a healthy team.

This team believes and has confidence, and so do Phillies fans.
