As Eagles fans and the NFL world continue to wait on Chip Kelly and Eagles brass to make a decision on Michael Vick’s future with the team, one of Vick’s favorite targets didn’t wait to make his thoughts on Vick’s future crystal clear.

DeSean Jackson, in New Orleans for Superbowl 47, showed support for Vick on an NFL Network interview yesterday. “For sure I can see it,” Jackson said. “Now that Chip Kelly is our offensive coordinator, I mean our head coach, Michael Vick I think it’s a no-brainer to keep him here. It fits his playing style and what he’s done perfect.”

However having seen Jackson’s progression, or lack there of, over the past two years, conventional wisdom would suggest that Jackson’s opinion on the matter does not mean much. While it is a teammate standing up in support of Vick, it is a teammate who has not developed into the player anyone expected just a few years ago.

Right now Chip Kelly needs to make the decision that sets him up to have long-term success. If he feels keeping Vick is the right thing to do, then fine. If he doesn’t, then fine. Either way DeSean Jackson’s opinion has lost a lot of value over the past two seasons, and shouldn’t be the basis of the Eagles future.
