Why Teams Should Fear The Philadelphia Phillies Infielders

The Philadelphia Phillies infielders are going to have a huge year, and there is no doubt in my mind that teams around the league should fear this group of guys, both offensively and defensively.

Ryan Howard

Due to injury, Howard only played 71 games last season which was a huge loss for this team. This season will be totally different. Howard is healthy and should be able to put up the numbers he did a few seasons ago. Remember, this is a guy who has put up some crazy-good numbers. Remember in 2008 when he had 48 homeruns?

Chase Utley

Utley is another guy who played limited games last year due to injury, only playing 83, and again, this was a huge loss as well. Ruben Amaro Jr. has said that Utley is doing great and is healthy, so if he can play like the real Chase Utley we all know, the Phillies will be a dangerous team.

Jimmy Rollins

J-Roll had his ups and downs last season and hopefully that will all change. The Phillies need a lot of production out of Rollins this year to have a successful season, as he is a very important asset to this team.

Michael Young

The Phils added Young to their roster, who will make a great addition. Young had a down year last season, only hitting 8 homeruns and driving in 67 RBI’s. The ball club brought in Young in hopes that he will turnaround that season that he had last year and to fill the gap at the third base position so the Phillies would have a true starting 3rd baseman. Young has shown us all that he has had a successful career thus far so he should have a bounce back season.
