Why the Giants Should Win Super Bowl XLVI

by News

Deja vu. Those are the words that first come to my mind when I think about this year’s Super Bowl. Back in 2007, the 18-0 New England Patriots took on the “road warrior” New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII out in Glendale, Arizona. That game resulted in the G-Men hoisting the Lombardi Trophy thanks in large to a great catch made by David Tyree. This article is to outline why there should be a repeat of 2007 tomorrow night in Indianapolis.

1. You can’t spell elite without Eli, right? Correct. The season Eli Manning had has proven his worth in this league and has demanded respect from pundits. Manning has cut down on his interceptions from last season and steps up his play on crucial third downs. Eli obviously has been getting more publicity than his brother, Peyton because the Indianapolis star has been sidelined all season after recovering from three neck surgeries. When the Giants win this game, Eli will have two Super Bowl rings compared to Peyton’s one; I think that fact makes Eli the superior Manning brother.

2. Hips don’t lie. Just like Shakira says in her sexy 2006 single, a person’s hips do not lie. In this case, the hips belong to Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz. Cruz has been a break out star for the Giants in 2011-12 season. The Giants signed the undrafted free agent back in 2010. Cruz had 82 catches for 9 TDs in the regular season. His speed comes in handy also when he needs to burn defensive backs. Cruz has also gained a lot of recognition from his celebratory end zone dances. Cruz is a great weapon for Manning.

3. The song is stuck on replay When the Giants made their historic run on their way to a Super Bowl victory back in 2007; they had their “Road Warrior” mentality. That phrase surfaced after the Giants continued to win consecutive must-win games on the road. The Giants have brought back that attitude after again coming out victorious in consecutive road games to end the regular season to make the playoffs. After romping the Falcons in the opening round in New Jersey, they won the rest of their postseason match-ups as the visiting team. When the original “Road Warriors” took on the Pats in the Super Bowl, they won. Look for the same to happen on Sunday night.

Tom Coughlin will once again prove that he shouldn’t get fired as Giants fans always demanded around the mid-way point of the season. Eli Manning will finally step out of the shadow of “Peyton’s little brother”. Hakeem Nicks is a solid member of the receiving corps. Him coupled with the aforementioned Cruz will complement their reinvigorated running attack. Brandon Jacobs is now fully healthy and will be a big threat to the defense of the Patriots. That is why New York Giants will be basking in the confetti in Lucas Oil Stadium.
